WMS Suggestions

Introduction

The following are some example WMS feeds that can be used in Digimap. Note: we do not endorse or guarantee that any of the following feeds work or are without fault. Note also that the speed with which a WMS feed loads is very much dependent upon the third party server supplying the data.

  • The list is not definitive and just gives a range of examples from various sources.
  • For details on how to add the WMS, see our help page.
  • If you have a WMS that you think should work, and have tested that it works in other software (e.g. QGIS or ArcGIS Online), please let us know so we can improve the service.

United Kingdom

Department for Environment Spatial Data Catalogue

The Spatial Data Catalogue provides access to many UK Government datasets.

British Geological Survey (BGS)

There are a variety of WMS that are available from BGS at:

Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH)

A large number of layers are available at:

Global/WGS84

Note: these WMS are generally in WGS84 projection and so are not compatible with Digimap applications that are in British National Grid. They will work with Global Digimap.
