Ordnance Survey Products

The following Ordnance Survey products are available through Digimap. This page provides access to more detailed information about each of the products.

All Ordnance Survey data uses the National Grid coordinate system for describing locations within Great Britain. Ordnance Survey also use National Grid references as names for the tiles in which their products are supplied. We have written an explanation of the National Grid system for the Digimap Help pages which can be found in the OS Data Issues section here: Grid References. There is also a page explaining product tiles and their National Grid names for all the different Ordnance Survey products in t the same section here: Data tile structure.

Many of the Ordnance Survey products within Digimap are periodically updated. The Ordnance Survey's policy on updating the data and distributing updates to Digimap can be found in the OS Data Issues section here: Revision Policy.

The Help pages relating to OS products are split into three levels. For each product there is an overview page, Guidance Notes and a User Guide. The overview page provides very brief details of the product. The Guidance Notes provide a distilled and concise version of the User Guide, and aim to pick out the most useful and relevant information so that you do not need to read the whole User Guide. The User Guides are produced by Ordnance Survey, and provide the definitive guide to each dataset.
